The graduate program in the Department of Sociology is designed for Ph.D. students. We do not accept students for the single purpose of acquiring a master’s degree in sociology.

However, the Department’s doctoral students may obtain a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Sociology during the course of their doctoral studies by completing

1) A minimum of 37 units of required coursework

2) Passing the Secong Year Paper and other program milestones
