Sociology Department Certificate Program

The UCI Sociology Department offers undergraduate Sociology Majors the opportunity to earn up to four departmental certificates. Each certificate recognizes successful completion of a focused course of study in one of four areas. Applications and notices of designated University or Departmental events, seminars, and colloquia pertaining to each certificate will be posted on the undergraduate bulletin board on the 4th floor of Social Science Plaza B (across from Room 4215) and online on our certificate talks page.

For each certificate, you are required to complete three courses in its field with a grade of C or better, and participate in three designated university/departmental events, seminars, or colloquia related to the certificate area of focus. Please note that courses and events may not be used for more than one Sociology Certificate.
You must sign in at each event you attend, and complete a Certificate Colloquium Summary Form for each talk and turn it in within one week of the event.

If you would like to receive your certificate Spring 2010, please submit your certificate application(s) to Kasey Ning in SSPB 4221 by May 21, 2010. You will be presented your certificate at the Annual Awards Ceremony at the end of the school year, date to be announced.
